Tim who???
In 1989, I was just graduating from college and was still typing papers on my Brother typewriter. I was into my first teaching job a few years when the school got a lab full of Macintosh computers. I learned how to type my worksheets and save them. Typing the math was not easy but I figured it out or still had to write in the formulas. Hmmmm. I didn't grow up in this digital age and now that I am older - I know that if I were exposed to this course ten years ago, I would be far more proficient than I feel like I am now.
It is interesting that in my field I have a much more complex understanding of mathematics than my students, but my students are way ahead of me on a technological level. At the beginning of the year, I took the staff development course on Edmodo. It was amazing how instantly archaic my Teacher Web was! As I read the book, I realize that a blog may be even more efficient than Edmodo. For now, I will get the most out of Edmodo to get me started.
I'm with you only 10 years earlier I was typing and probably paying somebody to type my papers after doing all the research at the UMASS library. I bet that place is quiet these days or they have put in high tech computer terminals to do research. As for math...I'm still not sure I could type that! Looking forward to retirement and not having to worry about all of this!
